Arteta reveals the big problem he now has after Arsenal signed Declan Rice
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has opened up on the big problem that he currently has after the gunners completed the signing of Declan Rice.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has expressed his delight at the recent signings made by the club in the summer transfer window. The Gunners have added three new players to their squad, including midfielder Kai Havertz from Chelsea, defender Jurrien Timber from Ajax, and most notably, midfielder Declan Rice from West Ham for a record-breaking fee of £105 million.
With these new additions, Arteta now finds himself with a midfield headache as he has three top-quality holding midfielders at his disposal. Alongside Rice, Arsenal already had Thomas Partey and Jorginho in their ranks. This surplus of talent in the midfield has left Arteta with the challenge of finding a way to maximize their qualities and fit them all into his starting lineup.
Speaking to CBS Sports about this midfield conundrum, Arteta said, “Now we have three very good holding midfielders with him (Rice), Thomas and Jorginho. I have to fit them in because they are so good and I love playing with midfielders. So, we are thinking of a few things we can do to maximize their qualities.”
Arteta’s enthusiasm for playing with midfielders is evident in his tactical approach since taking charge of Arsenal. He has often deployed a system that heavily relies on a strong midfield presence to control possession and dictate play. With the addition of Rice, Partey, and Jorginho, Arteta now has an abundance of options to choose from.
Kai Havertz’s arrival adds another dimension to Arsenal’s attacking options. The 24-year-old German international is known for his versatility and ability to play in multiple positions across the front line. His technical skills and goal-scoring prowess will undoubtedly provide Arteta with more attacking options and flexibility.
Defensively, Jurrien Timber’s signing strengthens Arsenal’s backline. The 22-year-old Dutch defender arrives from Ajax with an impressive reputation for his composure on the ball and ability to read the game. Timber’s addition will provide healthy competition for places in the defense and further enhance Arteta’s defensive options.
As Arteta continues to ponder over his midfield headache, Arsenal fans can be excited about the wealth of talent at their manager’s disposal. The challenge for Arteta will be to find the right balance and combination of players that can bring success to the club. With a strong midfield trio of Rice, Partey, and Jorginho, supported by the attacking prowess of Havertz, Arsenal’s prospects for the upcoming season look promising.
The Gunners have made significant investments in their squad this summer, signaling their ambition to compete at the highest level. As Arteta navigates through his midfield dilemma, Arsenal fans will eagerly await how he utilizes his talented pool of players to achieve success on the pitch.
