Arteta subtly reveals that Arsenal will mass sale a lot of players in this window
Arsenal hasn’t had a lot of outgoings in this summer transfer window and Mikel Arteta has made a hint which shows that he will sell a lot of players.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has dropped a hint that the Gunners are likely to offload several players in this summer transfer window, suggesting that his squad is currently too large. In a recent statement, Arteta stated as per Fabrizio Romano, “We have 30 players here which is unsustainable. But of course, the market is still open and things can happen. We are ready, we are prepared.”
This revelation from Arteta comes as no surprise considering Arsenal’s recent activity in the transfer market. The club has already completed three signings in this window, indicating their intention to revamp the squad and potentially make room for new arrivals by offloading surplus players.
One of Arsenal’s notable acquisitions is 24-year-old Kai Havertz from Chelsea for a reported fee of £65 million. Havertz, who had an impressive spell at Chelsea, will undoubtedly add creativity and attacking prowess to Arteta’s side. The Gunners have also secured the services of 22-year-old defender Jurrien Timber from Ajax in a deal worth €40 million plus €5 million in add-ons. Timber’s arrival will bolster Arsenal’s defensive options and provide competition for places.
However, the most significant signing for Arsenal thus far has been 24-year-old Declan Rice from West Ham United for a staggering £105 million.
With these three high-profile signings already completed, it is clear that Arsenal means business this summer. However, Arteta’s comments suggest that more activity could be on the horizon as they look to trim down their squad size.
The Gunners currently boast an extensive roster of 30 players, which Arteta deems unsustainable. This implies that several individuals may be deemed surplus to requirements and could be sold or loaned out before the transfer window closes.
While specific names have not been mentioned, it is expected that Arsenal will be open to offers for players who have struggled for regular game time or failed to meet expectations.
Arteta’s statement also leaves room for potential new signings. Arsenal may use the funds generated from player sales to further strengthen their squad in areas that require improvement. The Gunners have been linked with moves for a new goalkeeper, a right-back, and additional attacking options.
As the transfer window remains open, Arsenal fans can expect further developments in terms of both incoming and outgoing transfers. Arteta’s assertion that the club is ready and prepared indicates that there may be more exciting announcements on the horizon as Arsenal continue their squad overhaul ahead of the upcoming season.
