Arteta tells Arsenal fans why the signing of Jurrien Timber will be a success
Arsenal announced the signing of Jurrien Timber on Saturday and Mikel Arteta has opened up on why this signing will be a huge success for the gunners.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has expressed his excitement over the club’s latest signing, defender Jurrien Timber. The 22-year-old Dutchman joined Arsenal from Ajax in a deal worth €40 million plus €5 million in add-ons, becoming the club’s second summer signing.
Arteta spoke highly of Timber, describing him as a versatile young defender who will fit seamlessly into Arsenal’s system and provide the squad with added quality. The manager expressed his anticipation in welcoming and integrating Timber into the team.
“We’re really excited that Jurrien has joined us,” Arteta said in an interview with Arsenal’s official website. “He is a versatile young defender, who will fit into our system and provide our squad with so much added quality.”
Despite his young age, Timber has already achieved significant milestones in his career. He has represented the Netherlands at major international tournaments on multiple occasions and has also won trophies with Ajax. These experiences have undoubtedly contributed to his development as a player.
“Jurrien is a young player, but he has already achieved so much,” Arteta acknowledged. “He has experienced what it’s like to go to a major international tournament on more than one occasion, as well as the trophies he has won with Ajax.”
The acquisition of Timber adds depth and competition to Arsenal’s defensive options. His versatility allows him to play across the backline, providing Arteta with flexibility in his tactical approach. This signing further strengthens Arsenal’s commitment to building a competitive squad capable of challenging for titles.
In addition to Timber, Arsenal have been active in the transfer market this summer. They secured the services of 24-year-old midfielder Kai Havertz from Chelsea for £65 million, making him their most expensive signing of the window so far. The Gunners also broke records by completing the £105 million transfer of 24-year-old Declan Rice from West Ham, marking it as the highest-ever transfer fee between two British clubs.
With three signings already completed, Arsenal’s summer transfer window has been marked by ambition and a clear intent to strengthen the squad. The additions of Havertz, Timber, and Rice demonstrate the club’s determination to compete at the highest level.
As the new season approaches, Arsenal fans eagerly await the integration of their new signings into the team. The arrival of Jurrien Timber brings excitement and optimism for what lies ahead, as Mikel Arteta continues to shape his squad in pursuit of success.
