In the race to secure the signature of Mohammed Kudus, it seems that Arsenal might be losing out to their London rivals, Chelsea. A recent report by The Independent has shed light on why this might be the case, suggesting that Chelsea has put together a more convincing package for the talented midfielder.

Kudus, who currently plays for Ajax, has been in scintillating form, having scored 23 goals and provided 11 assists in 84 games for the Dutch club. At just 22 years old, he possesses immense potential and versatility, making him an attractive prospect for many top clubs.

One of the key factors that have given Chelsea an edge over Arsenal is their ability to offer a more enticing deal. While Arsenal is keen on acquiring Kudus as well as a right-back, they are facing financial constraints and need to sell players before they can make any further purchases. This limitation has hindered their ability to compete with Chelsea’s offer.

Arsenal’s summer transfer activity so far has seen them complete three signings. They secured the services of 24-year-old Kai Havertz from Chelsea for a hefty fee of £65 million. Additionally, they brought in 22-year-old defender Jurrien Timber from Ajax in a deal worth €40 million plus €5 million in add-ons. The Gunners also made headlines by breaking the British transfer record with the signing of 24-year-old Declan Rice from West Ham for a staggering £105 million.

While these signings have undoubtedly strengthened Arsenal’s squad, they have also put a strain on their finances. With significant expenditures already made this summer, the club now finds itself in a position where it needs to sell players before it can make any further moves in the transfer market.

This financial predicament has given Chelsea an advantage over Arsenal in their pursuit of Kudus. The Blues have been able to present a more appealing package without having to worry about offloading players to balance the books. As a result, they have emerged as the frontrunners in the race for the talented midfielder.

Arsenal’s recruitment staff have long been admirers of Kudus, primarily due to his versatility. The Ghanaian international can play in a conventional central midfield role, operate in an advanced position, or even feature on the right wing. This adaptability would undoubtedly add depth and options to Arsenal’s squad, making him an ideal target for the Gunners.

However, unless Arsenal can find a way to generate funds through player sales, it seems increasingly likely that Kudus will be donning the blue of Chelsea rather than the red of Arsenal next season. The financial constraints imposed by earlier expenditures have put them at a disadvantage in this transfer race.

As the summer transfer window progresses, it remains to be seen whether Arsenal can overcome these obstacles and secure their desired targets. For now, it seems that Chelsea has stolen a march on their London rivals in pursuit of Mohammed Kudus.

I am a very stubborn person who is always very argumentative in football discussions but I always win. I like writing about transfer news most.
