Kieran Tierney gives final answer on whether he will leave Arsenal this summer
Arsenal defender Kieran Tierney has given a final answer for the first time on the questions that have been asked about his future at the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal defender Kieran Tierney has addressed the recent speculation surrounding his future at the Emirates Stadium, insisting that it is not up to him to decide. The Scottish international has been heavily linked with a summer transfer window exit in the past few weeks, but he remains focused on working hard and performing well for the Gunners.
Tierney, who joined Arsenal from Celtic in 2019, made only six starts in the Premier League last season as manager Mikel Arteta preferred Oleksandr Zinchenko in the left back position. Despite limited playing time, Tierney remained committed and ready to contribute whenever called upon.
In an interview with The Athletic, Tierney said, “It’s not really up to me. I’m happy, I’m working hard every day and getting minutes. I’m just trying to do as well as I can.” He also revealed that he has not had a conversation with Arteta regarding his future at the club.
The 25-year-old left back acknowledged that it is impossible to play every game in a season and expressed his satisfaction with the number of appearances he made last year. “You can’t play every single game, every single season, every single year,” Tierney stated. “I don’t expect that and I still made a lot of appearances last year.”
Despite being used primarily as a substitute last season, Tierney emphasized his dedication and commitment to giving his all for the team. “I was ready every game and working 100 per cent,” he said. “I think everyone in there would agree with that, that I never give less than that whether I’m playing or not.”
Tierney’s versatility was evident as he often came off the bench to help see out games or provide an attacking spark when needed. He added, “In the games I did play, I tried to do my best for the team. I came off the bench a lot last season, whether that was to see games out or help get a goal.”
The defender’s comments suggest that he is content with his current situation at Arsenal and is focused on continuing to work hard and contribute to the team’s success. While transfer rumors may continue to circulate, Tierney remains committed to giving his all for the Gunners whenever called upon.
As the new Premier League season approaches, it will be interesting to see how Tierney’s role evolves under Arteta. With a strong work ethic and determination, he has the potential to become a key player for Arsenal in the coming years.
