Wenger speaks out on Arsenal’s decision to sign Declan Rice, Timber and Havertz
Arsenal have completed the signing of Declan Rice, Jurrien Timber and Kai Havertz, and former boss Arsene Wenger has commented on these signings.
Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has given his thoughts on the three players that the club has signed so far in this summer transfer window. Wenger believes that Arsenal has made good investments with these signings, as they are players who are now mature and still young, which means they can stay together for a few years.
One of the signings that Wenger commented on is Declan Rice, who joined Arsenal from West Ham for a record transfer fee of £105 million. Speaking to Eurosport, Wenger said, “I think it is a good investment. Overall, personally I think they have made good buys as they are players who are now mature, 23, 24, and still young so can stay together for a few years.”
Wenger’s comments highlight the importance of signing players who have both experience and potential for growth. Rice, at 24 years old, has already established himself as one of the top midfielders in the Premier League. His versatility and ability to control the game from midfield make him a valuable addition to Arsenal’s squad.
Another signing that Wenger discussed is Kai Havertz, who joined Arsenal from Chelsea for a fee of £65 million. Havertz is also 24 years old and brings with him a wealth of experience playing at the highest level. Wenger believes that Havertz’s maturity will be crucial for Arsenal’s success in the upcoming season.
Lastly, Wenger mentioned Jurrien Timber, a 22-year-old defender who joined Arsenal from Ajax in a deal worth €40 million plus €5 million add-ons. Timber is highly regarded for his defensive abilities and his potential to become one of the best defenders in Europe. With his young age and room for development, Timber could prove to be an excellent long-term investment for Arsenal.
Wenger also acknowledged that these signings will face more pressure after last year’s club performance but believes that they have learned from their experiences and can handle the pressure now. The former manager’s confidence in these players reflects the belief that they have the potential to make a significant impact at Arsenal.
With these three signings, Arsenal has made a statement of intent in this transfer window. The club is clearly looking to strengthen its squad and compete for major honors in the upcoming season. The signings of Rice, Havertz, and Timber demonstrate Arsenal’s ambition and desire to build a team capable of challenging for titles.
As the transfer window continues, it will be interesting to see if Arsenal makes any further additions to their squad. However, with the signings they have already made, it is clear that the club is moving in the right direction under new management. Fans will be eagerly anticipating the start of the season to see how these new signings perform on the pitch and whether they can help bring success back to Arsenal Football Club.
