Nicolas Pepe’s decision on his future at Arsenal finally revealed
Arsenal signed Nicolas Pepe for a club record fee a few years ago but things haven’t turned out well and the Ivorian international has now made a decision on his future.

Nicolas Pepe’s representatives are reportedly facing difficulties in convincing Arsenal to mutually terminate the player’s contract, as per the Express. The Turkish club Besiktas is said to be ready to consider other options if Pepe’s agency, LF360, fails to deliver on their promise of freeing the player from the final year of his contract.
After a disappointing loan spell at French Ligue 1 side Nice last season, where he managed to score only six goals, Nicolas Pepe has returned to Arsenal. The 28-year-old Ivorian winger joined the Gunners in 2019 for a club-record fee of £72 million from Lille. However, his time at Arsenal has been far from successful.
Pepe arrived at Arsenal with high expectations and was seen as a potential game-changer for the team. Known for his pace, dribbling skills, and ability to score goals, he was expected to provide a significant boost to Arsenal’s attacking prowess. Unfortunately, things did not go according to plan.
During his first season at Arsenal, Pepe struggled to find consistency and failed to live up to the hefty price tag. He scored only eight goals in all competitions and often found himself on the bench or substituted during matches. His performances were criticized by fans and pundits alike, questioning whether he was worth the investment.
The loan move to Nice was seen as an opportunity for Pepe to regain his form and confidence. However, it seems that he was unable to make a significant impact during his time there. With just six goals in Ligue 1 last season, it is clear that Pepe’s struggles have continued.

Now back at Arsenal for the upcoming season, it remains uncertain what role Pepe will play in Mikel Arteta’s plans. The emergence of young talents like Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli has added competition for places in the attacking positions. With limited playing time and a lack of consistent performances, Pepe’s future at Arsenal looks uncertain.
The reported struggles faced by Pepe’s representatives in negotiating a mutual termination of his contract indicate the complexities involved in such deals. Arsenal may be reluctant to let go of a player they invested heavily in just a few years ago. Additionally, finding a suitable replacement for Pepe could prove challenging for Besiktas if they decide to explore alternative targets.
