Nketiah sends a strong message to Arteta on being Gabriel Jesus’ back up
Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah has sent a strong message to his boss Mikel Arteta over being just a back up of Gabriel Jesus.

Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah has recently spoken out about his role as a backup striker and sent a direct message to his manager regarding his position in the team. The 24-year-old made 30 appearances for the Gunners last season, but most of them came as a substitute, with Gabriel Jesus being Mikel Arteta’s preferred choice up front. Despite this, Nketiah has made it clear that he does not see himself as a mere backup option.
“I don’t think I’m here to fill in for anyone. I’m here to play and contribute to the team,” Nketiah told CBS Sports. The young striker firmly believes in his abilities and is confident that he can make a significant contribution to the team’s success. “I pride myself on always being ready, and whatever role the manager needs me to fill, I will always make sure I do my best and to the best of my ability so I can help the team – that’s what it’s all about,” he added.

Nketiah’s determination and self-belief are admirable qualities that every player should possess. Despite not always being given the starting spot, he remains focused on making an impact whenever he is called upon. Last season, he scored four goals in the Premier League and provided one assist, showcasing his ability to make an impact even in limited playing time.
Being considered a backup striker can be challenging for any player, as it often means having less game time and fewer opportunities to showcase one’s skills. However, Nketiah is determined not to let this label define him or limit his potential. He understands that football is a team sport and that every player has a role to play in contributing to their team’s success.
Nketiah’s mindset reflects his ambition and hunger for success. He is not content with simply being a backup option; he wants to be an integral part of Arsenal’s attack and help lead them to victory. His dedication and commitment to the team’s cause are evident in his words, and it is clear that he is willing to work hard to earn his place in the starting lineup.
As Arsenal prepares for the upcoming season, Nketiah’s message to his manager serves as a reminder of his determination and desire to make a significant impact. He is ready to seize any opportunity that comes his way and prove himself as a valuable asset to the team. With his talent, work ethic, and positive attitude, Nketiah has the potential to become a key player for Arsenal in the future.
