Arteta speaks out on Arsenal’s win over Manchester City
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has expressed his pride and satisfaction following Arsenal’s 1-0 victory over Manchester City at the Emirates Stadium. The win holds special significance for Arteta, as it marks a personal record for him as Arsenal manager in the Premier League.
“So proud. It was the moment with the right people and the right players. We knew we would have to suffer and we did that. ” Mikel Arteta told the media.
“You need a big performance and the crowd too. It feels like a big win.”
Arteta’s side ended their 12-game losing streak against City, with the absence of Buyako Saka due to injury being a blow for the Gunners. However, the fit-again Gabriel Martinelli stepped up and made a significant impact. Coming on at half-time, Martinelli scored the crucial goal in the 86th minute, with his shot deflecting off Nathan Ake to secure the victory.
This win not only ended Arsenal’s losing streak against City but also served as a statement win for Arteta’s side. Currently sitting in 2nd position on the Premier League table with 20 points in the 2023/24 campaign, the Gunners have shown their title ambitions with this impressive victory.
Looking ahead, Arsenal’s next challenge will be an away game against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, 21st October. The international break provides Arteta and his team with some time to regroup and prepare for this important clash.
Arteta’s achievement of beating all 24 clubs he has faced as Arsenal manager in the Premier League is a testament to his tactical acumen and ability to get the best out of his players. It highlights the progress he has made since taking charge of the club and instills confidence in both the team and the fans.
As Arsenal continues their quest for success in the Premier League, this record-breaking win serves as a reminder of Arteta’s impact and the potential for future achievements under his guidance. The victory against Manchester City has given Arteta and his team a boost of confidence and momentum as they look to compete for the title this season.
