Former Arsenal star slams new signing Kai Havertz’s poor season start
Arsenal completed the signing of Kai Havertz in the summer transfer window and the German international has been slammed for his poor start to the campaign.
Former Arsenal defender William Gallas has criticized the club’s new signing, Kai Havertz, for his slow start to life as a Gunner. Gallas expressed his disappointment in Havertz’s performance, stating that after almost two months at the club, the German midfielder has failed to make a significant impact on the pitch.
Havertz joined Arsenal from Chelsea in the summer transfer window for a hefty fee of £65 million. The Gunners had high hopes for the 24-year-old, expecting him to contribute significantly to their campaign this season. However, Gallas believes that Havertz has not lived up to these expectations.
“After almost two months he did nothing. He scored his penalty, but without that, he hasn’t done anything. The fans expect more from him.” Gallas told the media.
“I’m not convinced by Havertz. I don’t think he will have a good season.”
In Arsenal’s seven Premier League games so far this season, Havertz has only managed to score one goal. This solitary goal came from a penalty against Bournemouth. Gallas argues that aside from this penalty, Havertz has failed to make any notable contributions to the team.
Gallas further expressed his doubts about Havertz’s potential for success at Arsenal. He stated that he is not convinced by the midfielder and does not believe he will have a good season with the Gunners.
Despite Gallas’ criticism of Havertz, Arsenal currently find themselves in a respectable third position on the Premier League table with 17 points. Their recent game was a UEFA Champions League match against Lens, which unfortunately ended in a 2-1 defeat for the Gunners.
Looking ahead, Arsenal’s next challenge will be against Manchester City at Emirates Stadium on Sunday in the Premier League. This will be an important test for both the team and individual players like Havertz as they aim to maintain their strong start to the season and secure another victory.
It remains to be seen whether Havertz can prove Gallas wrong and turn his slow start around. As an expensive signing with high expectations placed upon him, it is crucial for him to step up and showcase his true potential on the pitch. The fans are eagerly waiting for Havertz to make a significant impact and contribute more to the team’s success.
