As Arsenal continues to push for a top spot in the Premier League, club legend Ray Parlour has given some valuable advice to manager Mikel Arteta ahead of the January transfer window. The former midfielder believes that the Gunners need to strengthen their attacking options by signing a new striker.

Parlour’s words come after Arsenal’s recent Carabao Cup game against West Ham United, where they were knocked out in the round of 16 with a 3-1 defeat. Despite their strong start to the 2023/24 campaign, sitting in second place on the Premier League table with 24 points, Parlour believes that the Gunners need more depth in their attacking department.

Speaking to TeamTalk, Parlour said, “Eddie Nketiah has done really well for Arsenal, especially with that hat-trick against Sheffield United, but Arsenal definitely need another striker.” He went on to add, “That’s nothing against Eddie, he’s been brilliant and has done a great job for Arsenal, and I was really pleased for him to get that hat-trick, but Arsenal need more options.”

With Gabriel Jesus currently out injured, Parlour believes that Arsenal is light in the striker position and needs to address this issue in the upcoming transfer window.

As Arsenal prepares for their next Premier League game against Newcastle United at St James Park on Saturday, Arteta will surely take Parlour’s advice into consideration as he looks to strengthen his squad in January. With the race for the Premier League title heating up, it will be crucial for Arsenal to have depth and quality in all areas of the pitch.

Only time will tell if Arteta will heed Parlour’s words and bring in a new striker in January. But one thing is for sure, the Gunners will need all the firepower they can get as they continue their quest for Premier League glory.
