Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has provided an update on the availability of captain Martin Odegaard for their upcoming game against Brentford this weekend. Odegaard suffered a concussion in a previous match, and there were concerns about his recovery and return to the pitch.

Speaking to Arsenal Media, Arteta expressed his hope that Odegaard would be available for selection. “Hopefully, yes,” Arteta said. “We have another training session today, but he’s been progressing well, and hopefully, he will be available.”

The manager also shed light on the uncertainty surrounding Odegaard’s return due to the nature of his injury. “We didn’t know how many days [he’d be out for with concussion protocol]. It depends on certain things, and at the end, he got more delayed than we wanted, but we have to protect the player,” Arteta explained.

Arsenal currently sit in 3rd position on the Premier League table with 27 points in the 2023/24 campaign. In their most recent game against Burnley, the Gunners secured a 3-1 victory at the Emirates Stadium. Looking ahead, their next challenge will be facing Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday, November 25th.

Odegaard’s potential return will undoubtedly be a boost for Arsenal. The Norwegian midfielder has been a key figure for the team this season, contributing with his creativity and playmaking abilities. His absence due to injury has been felt, but Arteta’s positive update suggests that fans may see him back in action soon.

As Arsenal aims to maintain their strong form and push for success in the Premier League, having Odegaard available for the clash against Brentford could prove crucial. Arteta and the Arsenal faithful will be eagerly awaiting further updates on the captain’s fitness as they prepare for an important fixture.
