Arteta speaks out on worry of Kai Havertz being a flop at Arsenal
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has addressed concerns about the form of midfielder Kai Havertz this season. When asked if he was worried about Havertz’s performances, Arteta responded via Arsenal Media, “I’m not going to talk about any individual like that. We are a team, and when we play at our best it’s the team, and when we don’t, I am the one who is responsible for that. We all need to try and improve every single day.”
Havertz, 24, was signed by Arsenal from Chelsea for a hefty fee of £65 million during the summer transfer window. However, his contributions on the pitch have been limited so far. In his 10 appearances this season, Havertz has managed just one assist and scored one penalty goal.
Despite Havertz’s struggles, Arsenal currently find themselves in a promising position in the Premier League table. They sit in second place with 24 points in the ongoing 2023/24 campaign. However, their recent Carabao Cup game against West Ham United ended disappointingly with a 3-1 defeat at London Stadium, resulting in their elimination from the competition at the round of 16 stage.
Looking ahead, Arsenal’s next challenge will be an important Premier League clash against Newcastle United at St James Park on Saturday. As Arteta emphasized, it is crucial for both individual players and the team as a whole to strive for improvement every day.
While Arteta refrained from discussing Havertz specifically, his comments underline the collective responsibility within Arsenal and highlight the need for continuous progress to achieve success on all fronts.
