Former Arsenal player William Gallas has voiced his concerns about the team’s chances of winning this year’s Premier League title. Gallas believes that Arsenal lacks the character and resilience needed to consistently secure crucial victories.

In an interview quoted by Metro UK, Gallas stated, “Arsenal are capable of winning important games, such as the one against Man City, but we expect them to drop points, and we don’t know why.” He highlighted Arsenal’s recent match against Newcastle as an example of a game they should have won but failed to do so. Gallas believes that this inability to secure three points is what separates teams with character from those without.

Gallas went on to compare Arsenal with Manchester City, emphasizing the latter’s ability to grind out wins even in difficult situations. He pointed to their victories over Manchester United and Sheffield United. According to Gallas, Arsenal lacks a player who can single-handedly lift the team in tough situations.

“Arsenal have a good squad, but they need that player who will drag them out of tough situations. They don’t have that player at the moment,” Gallas remarked. He stressed the importance of having players who can provide security and consistency, both in attack and defense.

Currently sitting in 3rd position on the Premier League table with 27 points, Arsenal has shown promise this season. Their most recent game against Burnley ended in a 3-1 victory for the Gunners. However, Gallas believes that Arsenal needs to improve their ability to secure wins consistently if they want to challenge for the title.

Arsenal’s next game after the international break will be against Brentford in the Premier League at Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday, November 25th, 2023. It remains to be seen whether Arsenal can address their shortcomings and prove Gallas wrong by mounting a serious title challenge this season.
