Newcastle captain reveals the disrespectful thing Jorginho did after Saturday’s game
Arsenal faced Newcastle United on Saturday and the gunners were beaten one nil and The Magpies captain has revealed the disrespectful thing that Jorginho did after the game.
Arsenal recently faced Newcastle United at St James Park in a highly anticipated Premier League match. The Gunners, who are currently in 4th position on the Premier League table with 24 points in the 2023/24 campaign, were looking to continue their unbeaten run in the league. However, things did not go as planned for Arsenal as they suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of The Magpies, marking their first loss in the league this season.
But the result was not the only talking point of the game. After the final whistle blew, Newcastle United captain Jamaal Lascelles revealed that Arsenal’s captain of the day, Jorginho, had shown a lack of sportsmanship by refusing to shake his hand.
“I’m just so glad that we beat them. Their captain, Jorginho, didn’t want to shake my hand after the game. For me, whatever happens on the pitch – handbags or whatever – you show sportsmanship and shake hands afterwards,” Lascelles told reporters.
The incident has caused quite a stir in the football world, with many questioning Jorginho’s actions and criticizing him for being disrespectful. Some Arsenal fans have however defended him, saying that Newcastle United played a physical game that had lots of emotions.
Despite the loss, Arsenal still have a lot to look forward to in the upcoming weeks. Their next game will be against Sevilla in the UEFA Champions League at Emirates Stadium on Wednesday. The Gunners will be looking to bounce back from their defeat and secure a win in front of their home fans.
As for Newcastle United, their victory against Arsenal has given them a much-needed boost in the league. The Magpies, who are currently in 6th position, will be hoping to build on this win and climb up the table in the coming weeks.
In the end, it was a disappointing result for Arsenal, but the focus now shifts to their next game. As for Jorginho, he may need to reflect on his actions and show more respect towards his opponents in the future. After all, sportsmanship is an integral part of the game and should not be taken lightly.
