REVEALED: How Arsenal made history in their big win over Lens

Arsenal made history on Wednesday with their emphatic 6-0 victory over Lens in the UEFA Champions League. The Gunners became the first English team to lead by five goals at half-time of a Champions League match in the competition’s history.
The result not only clinched Arsenal’s safe passage through to the last 16 as Group B winners, but it also ended Lens’ hopes of progressing to the knockout stage. The game was effectively over as a contest by half-time, with Havertz, Jesus, Saka and Martinelli all scoring in a brilliant 14-minute spell, before Odegaard added a fifth in first-half stoppage time. Jorginho scored a penalty off the bench to cap the win in the latter stages as Arteta’s men cruised through with a game to spare.
The record-breaking victory is a testament to Arsenal’s attacking prowess and dominance on the European stage. The Gunners took their foot off the gas after the interval, but their first-half performance will go down in history as one of their most impressive displays in Champions League history.
With this historic win, Arsenal are currently sitting at the top of the Premier League table with 30 points after 13 league games. Their next challenge will be against Wolverhampton in the Premier League at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday 2nd December 2023. Arsenal fans will be hoping that their team can carry this momentum into their upcoming fixtures and continue their impressive run of form.
