Arteta reveals an injury update on Jurrien Timber
Arsenal completed the signing of Jurrien Timber in the summer transfer window but he however got injured and Arteta has provided an update.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has provided an update on the injury of defender Jurrien Timber, who has been sidelined for the entire season. Timber, who joined Arsenal from Ajax in the summer transfer window for a fee of €40 million plus €5 million in add-ons, suffered a significant injury at the start of the campaign.
Speaking to Arsenal Media, Arteta expressed his satisfaction with Timber’s progress in his recovery: “He is doing very well. Obviously he’s going through a really significant injury but he’s flying to be fair, the stage he is right now. The way he works every single day is incredibly satisfying to watch.”
Despite Timber’s impressive recovery, Arteta confirmed that the defender will still be out of action for a considerable amount of time: “Unfortunately, we’re going to miss him still for a long time.”
Arsenal, currently sitting in second position on the Premier League table with 36 points after 16 league games, recently suffered a 1-0 defeat against Aston Villa at Villa Park. Their next fixture will see them face PSV in the UEFA Champions League at Philips Stadion on December 12th, 2023.
Timber’s absence has undoubtedly been felt by Arsenal, as they have had to rely on other defensive options to fill the void left by the Dutchman. However, Arteta’s positive update on Timber’s progress offers hope that the defender will soon be back in action and able to contribute to the team’s success.
In the meantime, Arsenal will continue to work hard and push forward in both domestic and European competitions, aiming to maintain their strong position in the Premier League and progress in the Champions League. The return of Timber will undoubtedly provide a boost to the squad and further strengthen their defensive capabilities.
