Arteta reveals his disappointment with his Arsenal players over loss to Aston Villa
Arsenal lost one nil away at Aston Villa on Saturday and gunners boss Mikel Arteta has opened up about his disappointment with his players.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has expressed his disappointment with his team’s performance in their recent game against Aston Villa. The Gunners suffered a one-nil defeat at Villa Park, and Arteta believes that his players did not play up to their potential.
In an interview with Arsenal Media, Arteta stated, “I’m very disappointed with the result, especially with the way we played. I think we deserved much more than what we had. I thought we were the better team.” He further added, “I haven’t seen a team do what we did to Villa today since we were here in February.”
Arteta acknowledged that despite dominating the game, Arsenal lacked the accuracy in the opponent’s box to convert their chances into goals. He said, “It wasn’t enough to win it because we lacked the accuracy in the opponent’s box to put the ball in the back of the net with the amount of situations that we generated.”
Currently sitting in 2nd position on the Premier League table with 36 points after 16 league games, Arsenal will now shift their focus to their upcoming UEFA Champions League clash against PSV at Philips Stadion on 12th December 2023. Arteta will be hoping for a better performance from his players as they aim to secure a crucial victory in Europe.
The loss against Aston Villa serves as a reminder for Arsenal that they cannot afford to become complacent and must continue to work hard to improve their performances. Arteta’s disappointment with his players’ display highlights the high standards he expects from them. As the season progresses, it will be interesting to see how Arsenal bounce back from this setback and whether they can maintain their strong position in the Premier League.
