Arsenal midfielder Martin Odegaard has spoken out about what he believes caused the Gunners to suffer a 2-0 defeat against West Ham United in their recent Premier League clash. Odegaard expressed his frustration at the team’s inability to convert their chances into goals, stating that they created enough opportunities to win the game but lacked the final pass or finish.

In an interview with Arsenal Media, Odegaard said, “I think we created more than enough to score goals to win the game and it was the little details and the little last pass or the finish that was missing today. We have to learn from it and make sure we get sharper and better in front of the goals.”

The Norwegian midfielder also highlighted the team’s defensive shortcomings, admitting that they conceded goals too easily. He emphasized that games are often decided in the boxes, and Arsenal were not good enough in those areas against West Ham.

The defeat against West Ham was a missed opportunity for Arsenal to return to the top of the Premier League table. Tomas Soucek opened the scoring for West Ham after just 13 minutes, with controversy surrounding whether Jarrod Bowen had kept the ball in play during his assist. Despite hitting the post through Bukayo Saka before halftime, Arsenal failed to find an equalizer. Former Arsenal player Dinos Mavropanos then extended West Ham’s lead with a header against his former side.

With this loss, Arsenal remain in second place on the Premier League table with 40 points after 19 league games. Their next match will be against Fulham at Craven Cottage on December 31st.

Odegaard’s comments reflect a determination within Arsenal to improve their finishing and defensive performances. The team will need to address these issues if they want to maintain their position near the top of the table and compete for silverware this season.
