Emile Smith Rowe reveals the unknown leader in the Arsenal squad
Arsenal midfielder Emile Smith Rowe has shed light on an unacknowledged leader within the Arsenal team, despite not holding the official title of captain. He revealed that this player is none other than Declan Rice, who joined the Gunners in the summer and has made a remarkable impact throughout the season. Smith Rowe expressed his admiration for Rice, emphasizing the latter’s exceptional on-field performances as well as his off-field influence, which has significantly contributed to the team’s dynamic.
“It’s great to see Declan Rice here. I knew him a bit from playing with England before, and he’s a great guy. Obviously everyone can see what he’s doing on the pitch – he’s been amazing for us. But off the pitch too and around the training ground, he’s added more leadership. The way he demands the best from himself and his team-mates is really good. He’s one of the big leaders here already,” shared Emile Smith Rowe with Arsenal Media.
Rice’s impact has been particularly evident, with his authoritative presence making a noticeable difference in the team’s overall performance. His ability to motivate and demand excellence from himself and his teammates has resonated strongly with the rest of the squad, elevating the team’s collective mindset and determination.
As Arsenal navigates the 2023/24 campaign, currently holding the 4th position on the Premier League table with 40 points after 20 league games, the team has experienced highs and lows. Notably, their recent third-round FA Cup game against Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium resulted in a 2-0 loss. However, with their next game against Crystal Palace in the Premier League scheduled for Saturday, 20th January 2024, the Gunners will be seeking to regroup and put forth a strong showing as they continue their pursuit of success in the league.
Amidst the ongoing season, the impact of leaders like Declan Rice, as noted by Emile Smith Rowe, serves as a source of encouragement and inspiration for Arsenal as they strive for success on the pitch.
