Arsenal’s electrifying 6-0 triumph over Sheffield United was marred by an injury concern as Gabriel Martinelli was forced off in the second half with a foot injury. Manager Mikel Arteta addressed the issue in a post-match update, revealing, “We had a little issue with Gabriel Martinelli. He had a little cut in his foot. We need to see how it is.” Arteta’s words shed light on the extent of Martinelli’s injury and the need for further assessment to determine his availability for upcoming fixtures.

Despite the setback with Martinelli, Arsenal’s commanding display against Sheffield United showcased their attacking prowess, with goals flowing early in the game. Martin Odegaard kickstarted the scoring within five minutes, followed by a Jayden Bogle own goal that extended their advantage. Martinelli himself added to the tally, making it 3-0 in just 15 minutes, setting the tone for a dominant performance. Goals from Kai Havertz, Declan Rice, and Ben White further solidified Arsenal’s commanding lead, with White’s goal marking a significant milestone as the club’s all-time 10,000th goal.

With Arsenal currently positioned 3rd on the Premier League table with 61 points after 27 league games in the 2023/24 campaign, the injury update on Martinelli adds a note of concern as the team prepares to face Brentford in their next league fixture at the Emirates Stadium. The Gunners will be hoping for a swift recovery for Martinelli as they aim to maintain their momentum and continue their pursuit of success in the domestic campaign under Arteta’s stewardship.
