Arteta has provides new fantastic update on when fans will see Jurrien Timber
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has provided an update on the recovery of Jurrien Timber, shedding light on when the defender might be available for selection and whether it’s possible before the end of the season.
Arteta expressed optimism about Timber’s progress, stating, via media “He’s doing very well, he’s back training. He’s not far off, but the thing is that last step. I think he has a good chance [of playing again this season]. I don’t know the percentage, but he’s going to push it as far as he possibly can.”
Timber, who suffered an injury at Arsenal’s first game of the season and has since been grappling with an ACL injury, has shown promising signs in his rehabilitation journey. However, Arteta emphasized the uncertainty surrounding the final stages of recovery, highlighting the challenge of ensuring Timber’s readiness for competitive action.
“He hasn’t played any minutes so does he need a game with the U21s, does he need two games? We are going to have to see, especially because he’s training with us & we need to see how long that will take him. That last part is tricky & sometimes takes a while. Hopefully, as soon as possible,” Arteta elaborated.
The manager’s remarks reflect the cautious approach towards Timber’s return, acknowledging the importance of ensuring his full readiness to avoid any setbacks. As Arsenal continues to contend for top honors in the Premier League, having Timber back in the squad would provide a significant boost to their defensive options.
With Arsenal currently occupying the 2nd position on the Premier League table with 65 points, Timber’s potential return could bolster their defensive solidity in the remaining fixtures of the 2023/24 campaign. As the Gunners gear up to face Luton Town in their upcoming league fixture, Arteta and his team will be closely monitoring Timber’s progress in hopes of a timely return to action.
