Arsenal legend Emmanuel Petit has issued a warning to his former club, advising them against selling goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale this summer. While reports suggest Newcastle United are interested in signing the England international for £15 million, Petit believes the fee is far too low for a player of Ramsdale’s potential.

“£15m for Ramsdale to Newcastle? It’s a difficult one because what is the value of a player who is sitting on the bench?” Petit questioned the media. He acknowledged Ramsdale’s limited playing time in recent seasons due to the arrival of David Raya, but highlighted his strong potential and England status. “He’s barely played for the last few seasons, but for someone with two years on his contract, £15m seems quite a small amount – especially for an England ‘keeper,” Petit added.

While acknowledging Arsenal’s strong transfer record in recent years, Petit believes the club should hold out for a better price, especially considering Ramsdale’s desire to leave. “I think the problem is that Arsenal are not in the driving seat because they know the player wants to leave – so perhaps £15m is good business for Arsenal overall,” he admitted. However, he clearly believes the Gunners can do better, considering Ramsdale’s quality and potential.
