Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny’s departure from the club has been fully announced, marking the end of an eight-year tenure at the Emirates Stadium. The club released a statement acknowledging Elneny’s contributions and included his heartfelt comments on leaving.

Elneny, Arsenal’s longest-serving player, expressed deep affection for the club, reflecting on his time in North London. “It’s meant a lot to me being here for so long, it was the best eight years of my life. I love this club so much, I love the fans, I love everything about Arsenal,” Elneny told Arsenal Media.

Having joined from Swiss side Basel in January 2016, Elneny made 161 appearances for the Gunners, scoring six memorable goals, many of which were stunning long-range efforts. During his time at Arsenal, the Egyptian midfielder won the FA Cup in 2017 and two Community Shields, achievements that solidified his status among the fans and within the club.

Reflecting on his departure, Elneny shared the emotional impact of leaving Arsenal: “It breaks my heart – that’s why I refused to take to the field [on the lap of honour after Everton] because I was so full of emotion, but that’s life, my time here has come to an end & I’m very proud of what I’ve done for this club.”

He continued to express his gratitude towards the supporters: “I love these fans & I gave everything that I had. I appreciate everything they did for me, in the good moments & the bad & they’re always going to be in my heart forever.”

Elneny’s tenure at Arsenal is marked by dedication and passion, leaving behind a legacy that fans and the club will cherish. As he moves on, his contributions and the bonds he formed will be remembered fondly, embodying the spirit of commitment and love for the game that Arsenal stands for.
