Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has acknowledged that failing to win the Premier League title this season would be a disappointment, but also emphasized the importance of the “process” and the club’s long-term vision.
Speaking at the Gunners’ pre-season tour in the USA, Arteta admitted, “When you are so close, you really want to grab it, but I think you have to analyse the whole thing. In the end, the outcome of this football club has to be to win major trophies.”
Arsenal have finished as runners-up in the Premier League for the past two seasons, narrowly missing out on the title to Manchester City. Despite coming agonizingly close, Arteta remains determined to secure silverware for the club.
“We are in the process to achieve that – we are very close,” he stated. “The level that we are showing is extremely high, but it’s not been enough to win it. That’s the target.”
The manager’s comments highlight the ambition and hunger within the Arsenal squad. While the pursuit of the Premier League title remains a top priority, Arteta is also aware that achieving success requires a sustained and consistent approach.
The Gunners are expected to be major contenders again this season, and Arteta’s focus on “the process” suggests a commitment to long-term growth and development. While the desire to win trophies is paramount, the manager recognizes that building a consistently successful team takes time and a willingness to invest in the future.
Fans will be hoping that Arsenal’s “process” culminates in a trophy-laden season, but regardless of the outcome, Arteta’s commitment to building a winning culture is evident.
