Odegaard speaks out on new signings that Arteta will bring this summer
As Arsenal look to build on their impressive 2023/24 campaign, in which they finished a close second in the Premier League with 89 points, the club’s captain, Martin Odegaard, has opened up about the potential for new signings this summer.
Odegaard, who played a pivotal role for the Gunners last season, scoring 8 goals and providing 10 assists, expressed his satisfaction with the current squad and his trust in the club’s decision-makers to make the right moves in the transfer market.
“I’m really happy with the squad we have,” Odegaard told The Standard. “We have unbelievable quality & showed what we’re capable of, especially towards the end of the season with how well we played. It’s down to Mikel, Edu & the club to sort those things.”
The Norwegian midfielder’s comments reflect the positive atmosphere within the Arsenal camp, as the team narrowly missed out on the league title to Manchester City’s 91-point haul. Despite the disappointment, Odegaard and his teammates appear to be eagerly anticipating the upcoming season and the potential reinforcements that may arrive.
Mikel Arteta and technical director Edu will be tasked with identifying the right players to bolster the squad and bridge the gap to the champions. The recent successes, as well as the team’s strong performance in the latter stages of the 2023/24 campaign, have undoubtedly provided a solid foundation for the club to build upon.
Odegaard’s backing of the club’s decision-makers showcases his confidence in their ability to make the necessary adjustments to the squad, further strengthening the team’s chances of challenging for the title once again. His unwavering support for the current group of players also highlights the strong unity and camaraderie within the Arsenal dressing room.
As the transfer window progresses, Arsenal supporters will eagerly await the news of potential new arrivals, with the captain’s endorsement of the club’s plans providing reassurance that the team is on the right track to achieve their ultimate goal of clinching the Premier League title.
