Two Arsenal players make it to a prestigious team of the week list
The opening weekend of the 2024/25 Premier League season saw Arsenal’s young talents shine, with Bukayo Saka and Kai Havertz both named in the WhoScored Team of the Week.
Saka, who scored Arsenal’s opening goal in their 2-1 victory over Wolverhampton, was the highest-rated player of the week with an impressive score of 8.72. The 22-year-old winger’s dynamic performance and clinical finishing were key factors in the Gunners’ success.
Alongside Saka, summer signing Kai Havertz also made the Team of the Week. The German midfielder, who joined Arsenal from Chelsea, found the back of the net in the win over Wolves, showcasing his quality and adaptability to the Gunners’ system.
Arsenal’s impressive start to the season has them currently sitting in second place on the Premier League table with 3 points. The Gunners will look to build on this momentum when they face Aston Villa at Villa Park on Saturday, 24th August.
The WhoScored Premier League Team of the Week also features several other standout performers from the opening round of fixtures. Manchester United’s Harry Maguire (7.44) and Manchester City’s João Cancelo (7.56) were both recognized for their defensive contributions, while City’s Julián Álvarez (7.84) and Fulham’s Andreas Pereira (8.30) also made the cut.
With the new season now underway, Arsenal will be eager to continue their impressive start and mount a sustained challenge for the Premier League title. The inclusion of Saka and Havertz in the Team of the Week is a testament to the quality and depth of the Gunners’ squad, and fans will be excited to see what the team can achieve in the coming months.
