Arsenal legend challenges Arteta and his team on what they can do to improve
Arsenal legend Ian Wright has challenged Mikel Arteta and his team to improve their finishing after their recent 1-1 draw against Brighton & Hove Albion, highlighting the need to capitalize on chances to secure victories.
“The chances we had in the first half… it’s going to come down to that. It will come down to that,” Wright stated, emphasizing the importance of clinical finishing.
Wright, known for his prolific goalscoring during his Arsenal career, drew parallels to Manchester City, a team that consistently converts their chances into goals.
“What they’ve got to understand is like City have done and what great teams do, they make sure that when they get those chances, you take them because that then finishes the game off,” he explained.
The former striker believes that Arteta must emphasize the importance of finishing during training and team talks.
“If I’m in the dressing room or I’m the manager, I want them to see the chances because I’ve got to emphasize to them how important it is to take these chances in the first half to kill these teams’ spirit,” Wright concluded.
As Arsenal prepare for their next fixture against Tottenham Hotspur, Wright’s message serves as a timely reminder of the importance of finishing in front of goal. Converting more of their chances will be crucial if the Gunners hope to challenge for top honors this season.
