Arsenal defender William Saliba has spoken out about the mood within the squad following their narrow 1-0 defeat to Newcastle United at St. James’ Park. The loss marked another setback for the Gunners, who are looking to maintain their competitive edge in the Premier League this season.

“We are a bit sad because we wanted to win here today,” Saliba admitted in his post-match comments via club media. The French center-back acknowledged the team’s disappointment but pointed out that Arsenal fell short of their best performance. “Unfortunately, we didn’t [win] because I don’t think we played our best game. But we have to stick together and be ready for next week,” he added, emphasizing the importance of unity and resilience as the squad looks ahead.

Reflecting on the game itself, Saliba expressed a realistic outlook: “Maybe we deserved a point but I do not think we deserved to win today. They had one chance and they scored. We were on top trying to equalise, but I think we have to do better.” Despite late efforts to level the score, Arsenal couldn’t find the breakthrough.

Saliba maintained a balanced perspective on the result. “When you lose, there’s not a lot of positive things but it’s OK, we don’t have to be so sad,” he remarked, signaling the team’s need to shift focus to their next challenge.

With Arsenal currently sitting in 4th place on the Premier League table with 18 points from 10 games, their attention now turns to a crucial UEFA Champions League clash against Inter Milan at the San Siro on Wednesday. This match presents an opportunity for the Gunners to bounce back and show their resilience on the European stage.

I enjoy football so much and I am in love with Arsenal Football Club. I always watch the matches and will always give you my opinions about the game here.
