Gabriel Martinelli Sends Bold Warning to Newcastle Ahead of Arsenal Showdown

Arsenal winger Gabriel Martinelli has spoken about the Gunners’ determination ahead of their crucial Premier League clash against Newcastle United at St James’ Park. The Brazilian, who has been a key figure in Mikel Arteta’s attack, emphasized the difficulty of facing Newcastle away but insisted that Arsenal are going there with one goal in mind—winning.
Martinelli, speaking to The Standard, acknowledged the challenge that awaits Arsenal but expressed full confidence in his team. “It is hard to play there [at St James’ Park],” he said. “They are a really good side, but we have full confidence in our squad and we trust ourselves.”
Newcastle have established themselves as a tough opponent under Eddie Howe, especially at home, where their intense pressing and physicality make them difficult to break down. Arsenal experienced this firsthand last season when they suffered a 2-0 defeat at St James’ Park. However, Martinelli made it clear that past results will not affect their mindset heading into this match.
“It is going to be another battle there. We know how difficult it is to play there,” he continued. “But, as I said, we have an amazing team and we trust ourselves. We are going to go there to win the game.”
Arsenal are currently locked in a tight title race with Liverpool and Manchester City, making every match crucial. With the business end of the season approaching, the Gunners cannot afford to drop points, especially against a Newcastle side that is pushing for European qualification. Martinelli is aware of the stakes and has set an ambitious target for the game.
“We know our qualities. It is not because we lost 2-0 here in the last game, we are going to go there just to play now,” he added. “We are going to go there to win the game and to score three, four, five. Let’s see, the game is going to be really hard, for sure. But we are going to try our best to win the game.”
Arsenal have shown resilience this season, bouncing back from setbacks with strong performances. Their recent 5-1 demolition of Manchester City proved they have the attacking firepower to dominate any opponent, and they will need a similar display against Newcastle. With Thomas Partey, Martin Ødegaard, and Declan Rice playing crucial roles, Arsenal have the squad depth and quality to compete at the highest level.
Newcastle, however, will not be an easy challenge. Despite struggling with injuries this season, they remain a dangerous side, especially with the likes of Alexander Isak leading their charge. The Magpies will be eager to repeat their success against Arsenal and strengthen their position in the table.
As Arsenal prepare for one of their toughest away games of the season, Martinelli’s confidence and ambition set the tone for what promises to be an intense and thrilling contest. The Gunners are heading to St James’ Park with one goal in mind—securing all three points to keep their title dreams alive.
