Arsenal’s Eze Chase Intensifies as Romano Reveals Club’s Transfer Focus Has Shifted

After a flurry of high-profile arrivals at the Emirates Stadium, including Viktor Gyökeres, Noni Madueke, and Martin Zubimendi, Arsenal are now shifting their focus toward fine-tuning their squad — and the next key name in their sights is Eberechi Eze.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Eze has emerged as Arsenal’s top attacking target heading into the final weeks of the transfer window. While Arsenal are now expected to prioritize outgoings, Romano reports that Mikel Arteta and Sporting Director Andrea Berta have placed Eze firmly at the top of their list of final summer reinforcements.

“After all the signings for Arsenal, it’s now going to be important also to offload & sell some players,” Romano said. “Now, it’s going to be time to create some space financially, but the TOP target is Eberechi Eze. He’s considered the perfect player to add.”

The 27-year-old Crystal Palace midfielder is known for his flair, ball-carrying ability, and match-winning instincts — qualities that Arsenal believe would give their attack a new dimension. Eze registered 11 goals and 4 assists in the Premier League last season despite Palace’s mid-table campaign, showing he’s capable of producing magic even without an elite supporting cast.

Arsenal see his profile as ideal for rotating across the attacking midfield line, whether in place of Martin Ødegaard, on the left to provide competition for Gabriel Martinelli, or as a roaming No. 10 in more dynamic formations.

Direct Contacts with Eze’s Camp

Romano reports that Arsenal have already held multiple conversations with Eze’s agents, and crucially, the player himself is “very tempted” by the opportunity to join Mikel Arteta’s project.

“They are in contact with his agents, they spoke to the player several times, the player’s camp several times — Eze is very tempted by this opportunity,” Romano confirmed.

This interest from Eze is viewed internally at Arsenal as a major green light. However, any move will now hinge on whether the club can open successful talks with Crystal Palace.

Crystal Palace Talks Still to Come

While the Gunners have done groundwork on the player side, they have yet to make formal contact with Crystal Palace. That step, according to Romano, is expected to come in August, when Arsenal have offloaded several fringe players and have greater financial flexibility.

Palace are known for being tough negotiators, and Eze’s £68 million release clause provides a strong position for them. Arsenal may attempt to negotiate below that number, but Romano acknowledges it “won’t be easy.”

“They still didn’t speak to Crystal Palace, so let’s see how those conversations will go in August. We all know how complicated it is to negotiate with Palace, but Arsenal will try.”

The Next Few Weeks Are Crucial

With Eze’s openness to a move already established, Arsenal now need to act fast to turn interest into action. If Arteta can secure one more top-quality attacker, it could be the final piece in an already strengthened squad — and Eze is clearly the name they want.
