Arsenal Complete Paperwork for Cristhian Mosquera Transfer as Medical Underway
Arsenal’s summer transfer activity continues to gather pace, with the club now finalising the signing of highly-rated defender Cristhian Mosquera from Valencia. According to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, all the necessary documents between Arsenal and Valencia have now been exchanged, with the player undergoing his medical today in London.
The move for Mosquera, 21, represents a strategic investment by the Gunners in one of Spain’s brightest young defensive talents. The centre-back has already shown immense promise in La Liga and has been on Arsenal’s radar for several months. With Mikel Arteta keen to add depth and quality to his back line, Mosquera’s arrival marks a significant step forward in the club’s preparations for the 2025/26 season.
Arsenal have reached a total agreement with Valencia for a deal expected to be worth around €15 million plus add-ons, bringing the total package to just under €20 million. The structure of the deal reflects Arsenal’s confidence in Mosquera’s potential, as well as Valencia’s need to raise funds ahead of their own squad rebuild.
Personal terms had already been agreed earlier this week, with Mosquera understood to be excited by the project at Arsenal and eager to work under Mikel Arteta. Sources close to the deal suggest the player only had eyes for the North London club, despite late interest from clubs in Italy and Germany.
Mosquera’s medical is currently underway at Arsenal’s training facilities, and barring any late complications, the transfer will be completed imminently. Once the medical is concluded, Mosquera will sign a long-term contract, likely running until 2029, and will be officially unveiled as an Arsenal player later this week.
The Spanish youth international is expected to initially serve as a strong rotational option behind first-choice centre-backs William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhães. His ball-playing ability, positional intelligence, and maturity on the pitch have impressed Arsenal’s recruitment staff, who believe he can develop into a top-level Premier League defender under Arteta’s guidance.
Mosquera joined Valencia’s academy from Hércules CF and quickly rose through the ranks, making his senior debut in 2022. Despite his age, he has already made over 30 first-team appearances for Los Che and is widely viewed in Spain as one of the most promising defenders of his generation.
This signing continues Arsenal’s trend of securing young talent early and integrating them into a competitive squad framework. With Champions League football returning to the Emirates Stadium and increased fixture demands, squad depth is more important than ever — and Mosquera adds quality and potential in equal measure.
The final stages of the transfer are now just a formality. Once the medical is successfully completed, Arsenal are expected to release an official statement confirming Mosquera’s arrival. Fans can look forward to seeing the young Spaniard in red and white for pre-season, as he begins the next chapter of his career at one of England’s biggest clubs.
