Alex Iwobi speaks out on how they are taking the UEFA Europa League

Arsenal midfielder Alex Iwobi travelled with the rest of his teammates to Azerbaijan on Wednesday and he faced the press with Unai Emery.

Arsenal midfielder Alex Iwobi has been outstanding for the gunners in the last few weeks and he will likely be in the starting eleven that takes on Qarabag on Thursday in Azerbaijan.

Arsenal attacking midfielder Alex Iwobi was asked in the press conference whether the Gunners were indeed taking things seriously with the Europa league fixtures. Alex was clear that the team took all completions seriously and that a few other players used it as an opportunity to get some game time.

“Even last year I would like to believe that [we took it seriously], for any competition we participate in, we would take it seriously.” the Nigerian told Arsenal Player.

“However, we’ve had Emile Smith Rowe playing his part in this competition as well, so we still have a lot of players getting involved. We are taking this competition very seriously, as well as every other competition. We’d like to do well in it and go far.”

The Gunners have travelled to Baku, Azerbaijan to face Qarabag and it will be their second Europa League group stage match. Alex Iwobi will be hoping to impress in this match so that he could be in Unai Emery’s starting eleven which he uses in the Premier League and good enough, he these days has support from Arsenal supporters to replace Aaron Ramsey from the starting eleven.

A few absentees from the match against Qarabag are Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who is ill, Aaron Ramsey who has asked to be excused on personal grounds, and Mkhitaryan who Unai opted to not play because of the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
