Qarabag 0-3 Arsenal post-match analysis

Arsenal will now keep their position as group leaders in their Europa League group E table after defeating Qarabag 2-0 in Azerbaijan.

Arsenal has got its second Europa League win after getting an impressive 3-0 win against Qarabag. Three goals from Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Emile Smith Rowe and Matteo Guendouzi were enough to make sure that the gunners got the valuable three points.

Arsenal came into this match with great confidence and this was seen as how they played in the first minutes of the game, they scored their first goal of the day thanks to Sokratis who flicked the ball into the back of the net in the fourth minute. After the gunners scored the first goal, Qarabag surprisingly got back into the game and controlled the match, squeezed the gunners who had an awful midfield but failed to get an equalizer.

The first half ended 0-1 in favour of the gunners but their performance in the first 45 minutes was poor apart from the goal. The second half started off similarly like the first half with the gunners not making accurate passes and Qarabag finding it easy to reach the Arsenal box without any trouble. Qarabag even scored but their goal was ruled out due to being offside.

Just as things seemed not to be going Arsenal’s way, the gunners got their second goal thanks to a quick attack by Alex Iwobi who found Emile Smith Rowe on the right flank and the youngster put the ball into the back of the net. It must be a special day for Smith Rowe because he has his first professional goal.

Unai Emery brought in Alexandre Lacazette and Mesut Ozil in the second half and the two also added more flair to the attack of the North Londoners. The gunners got their third goal of the day through Matteo Guendouzi who scored through a low shot after getting a pass from Alexandre Lacazette, it is the Freshman’s first goal since he joined the gunners.

So Arsenal goes home with the three points, three players scoring their first goals for the club and a clean sheet for Bernd Leno. Unai Emery and his squad will definitely go home with a smile.
