Revealed: Why Welbeck’s Injury Will Affect Unai Emery, Aubameyang And Lacazette

Danny Welbeck is still at the hospital after he suffered a horrific injury on Thursday when the gunners faced Sporting Lisbon.

Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck sustained an ankle injury on Thursday when the gunners welcomed Sporting Lisbon at the Emirates Stadium. Arsenal hasn’t given an official announcement on the time which Danny Welbeck will spend on the sidelines but rumours say that it could be as long as six months because it was a serious injury.

Arsenal boss Unai Emery has always emphasized the balancing of players when choosing his lineup because he doesn’t want his team to either have many attacking players which would see the gunners fail defensively or have more defenders which will result in the attacking line of the gunners being weak.

Danny Welbeck gets injured

So Danny Welbeck who was Arsenal’s back up striker is gone, the gunners now have only two senior strikers in their squad, Aubameyang and Lacazette, and Arsenal is still participating in all the four competitions which results in the gunners getting tight match schedules. As per the last Premier League game of Arsenal, Unai Emery used both Lacazette and Aubameyang in the starting eleven so this means the Arsenal boss has bought the idea of using them together but he however knew that even if he exhausts them that weekend, Welbeck would be ready to lead the line in their next Europa League match which was on Thursday this week.

So the point I am trying to make is that Unai Emery is going to be forced to either be benching Aubameyang or Lacazette in the Premier League matches because it’s far risky to use your only strikers at the same time when you are participating in four different competitions. Unai Emery might however just make a gamble and be using both Lacazette and Aubameyang in the starting eleven in the Premier League.

Many may say that Danny Welbeck’s injury won’t affect Arsenal so much since he was just a back up striker but that’s not certain because it puts Unai Emery in a dilemma of angering the Arsenal fans by not starting both Lacazette and Aubameyang in Premier League matches because of tactical reasons or just follow their wishes, and hope that neither of them gets fatigued.
