Smith Rowe reveals how Unai Emery helped him improve

Emile Smith Rowe has praised Arsenal boss Unai Emery for helping him develop as a player this year.

Arsenal appointed Unai Emery as their new manager in May this year and most of the fans believed that he wouldn’t promote youngsters as his predecessor because Arsene Wenger had made a name of making dreams of young talented players come true.

Emile Smith Rowe was selected in the Arsenal squad that went for the pre-season tour and he impressed in the matches played in the International Champions Cup, he scored just once but it seems the coach saw great potential in him.

Emile Smith Rowe has been used in Arsenal’s matches in the Carabao Cup and UEFA Europa League this season and he has scored three goals in the five appearances he has made for the senior team. He recently scored one goal for Arsenal in its match against Vorskla a few weeks ago, it could have been two but one was wrongly disallowed for being offside.

Emile Smith Rowe has said that Unai Emery and his assistant coach Juan Carlos Carcedo have helped him develop as a player in the few months which he has known them, the Englishman said in an interview with Sky Sports.

“The manager has done one-to-one stuff with me a few times after training, working on one-v-one attacking and just being patient.” said Emile Smith Rowe.

“The assistant manager [Juan Carlos Carcedo] has been helping me a lot too with turning on the ball when I play in the No 10 position.”

“It’s good to get that help on the pitch, so I can actually practise it, instead of in the classroom. But even in the classroom they have both had one-on-ones with me which I’ve found really useful.”
