Arsenal is still in the Premier League top four race and their win against Cardiff City this evening sees them stay closer to Chelsea.
Arsenal has gone back to winning ways tonight by beating Cardiff City 2-1 to keep pressure on the Premier League top four which remains in possible reach of the North Londoners who will be happy that all the three points are in the bag.
The gunners started off the match on a poor note as they failed to create chances and were always losing the ball in the final third because of lack of wingers. Arsenal didn’t have as many chances as Cardiff City in the first 45 minutes, the gunners survived many times because the visitors lacked clinical attackers. The gunners were playing with three defensive midfielders – Mohamed Elneny, Matteo Guendouzi and Lucas Torreira because Arsenal boss Unai Emery wanted to have control in the midfield.
The first half ended 0-0 and Unai Emery then brought in Alex Iwobi, replacing Mohamed Elneny who had a poor first half because he was at times driving forward but not making any killer passes to break the Cardiff City defence. The gunners were better in the opening minutes of the second half and put pressure on the visiting side until Sead Kolasinac won them a penalty after receiving a through ball from Alex Iwobi. ( Before that Unai Emery replaced Stephan Lichtsteiner with Carl Jenkinson ).
The gunners now got back their confidence and looked lively in their attacking moments. Aaron Ramsey then lastly replaced Mesut Ozil. Lacazette received a great pass on the left-wing and went down but got back up, made a run into the Cardiff City box and doubled the lead of the North Londoners.
Cardiff City also pulled one goal back in the last minutes of the added time but the gunners were able to hold onto the lead and they will be hoping to get a win against Manchester City at the weekend.
