The Winter transfer window has officially opened and football clubs are now allowed to sell and buy new players to bolster their squads. It has opened at the right time for Arsenal because they currently have defensive problems that need them to sign at least some centre backs.
Arsenal welcomed Fulham at the Emirates Stadium yesterday and they won the match 4-1 thanks to goals from their attackers but their defence was still poor because they conceded a cheap goal because the defenders weren’t marking everyone hence the visitors pulling one goal back.
Arsenal head coach Unai Emery faced the press after their win against Fulham and one of the top topics of the press conference were about transfers since the January transfer window has opened. He was asked whether the gunners plan on signing anyone in the January transfer window and here’s what he had to say.
“It’s not easy but the club is working. We are watching different possibilities and maybe we can if the transfer market gives us some opportunities we can sign one or to players.” The Arsenal boss told Goal.
Arsenal fans aren’t happy with this statement from Unai Emery because it’s similar to the answers which Arsene Wenger used to say when he was asked about signing new players in press conferences. The gooners will be hoping that Arsenal does sign defenders in this transfer window because their defence is embarrassing.
