Unai Emery reveals factors that will determine whether Ozil starts Vs Spurs

Most of the Arsenal fans will prefer to see Mesut Ozil in the squad that faces Tottenham Hotspur but Unai Emery has revealed the factors that will determine whether the German international starts.

Mesut Ozil made one assist and scored a goal on Wednesday as the gunners beat Bournemouth 5-1 at the Emirates Stadium and they will at the weekend face Tottenham Hotspur away from home. It’s clear that Arsenal’s boss Unai Emery does not like using Mesut Ozil in the away matches but this time it’s different because the German international literally had an incredible performance in the Bournemouth game.

The North London Derby is important to the Arsenal supporters and they will be hoping that Unai Emery gives Mesut Ozil a chance because he proved that he is still an incredible player that has begun tracking back as the coach requests. Arsenal has faced Tottenham Hotspur twice this season and Mesut Ozil has missed both those games, the first one, the gunners won 4-2 and the player missed the game because he was injured.

The next game was in the Carabao Cup and the gunners lost the match 2-0, and Arsenal boss Unai Emery said that Mesut Ozil was not included in the match day squad because of tactical reasons. So here we are again, the North London Derby is here and Mesut Ozil was impressive in the previous match but many believe he will be benched.

Arsenal head coach Unai Emery has given an explanation on the factors that will determine whether Mesut Ozil gets selected to be in the starting eleven that plays in the North London Derby.

“For us, we are doing a plan for a lot of matches and each match is different, whether it’s home or away, the opposition and how we are in each moment.” Unai Emery told Arsenal Media in today’s press conference.

“The most important thing is whether each player can be OK for tomorrow. Then we decide to play. With this, we’ll decide whether Mesut will play tomorrow.”
