Report: Should Arsenal fans get scared about Lucas Torreira’s future?

There has been many reports in Italy which claim that AC Milan is interested in Arsenal's Lucas Torreira who has been at the Emirates for just one year.

Arsenal completed the signing of Lucas Torreira from Sampdoria for £26.4million in the 2018 summer transfer window and the Uruguayan international has went on to impress for the North Londoners in his first full season in England.

Arsenal’s 2018/19 campaign ended on 31st of May after losing to Chelsea in the UEFA Europa League final and this has seen the gunners miss out on this year’s UEFA Champions League. All the players have been released to go and represent their countries but as for Lucas Torreira, there has been a lot of speculation on his future in the last two weeks and it’s believed that AC Milan want to sign him this summer so that he goes back to Italy as he no longer wants to stay in England.

The interest of AC Milan seems genuine but Lucas Torreira hasn’t given any statement about his future but his agent did say that if his former boss Marco Giampaolo ( Current AC Milan manager) called him then it would be mean a lot to his client. Lucas Torreira is one of the fan favourites at Arsenal and the gooners will definitely be hoping that the club doesn’t sell him but let’s track this from the beginning.

How did the Torreira rumours begin?

All the reports that Torreira would be open to a move to AC Milan all begun after the Arsenal midfielder claimed that it was better in Italy than in England because he isn’t used to the weather and that the language barrier is a huge problem but most people forgot what he added after he said that.

“It is strange a little bit, the sun, the more of us that we are here and we are accustomed to having always or almost always the sun. But as the years pass, I’m going to be adapting.” said Torreira.

As you can see, he claims that he will be adapting as the years pass by. The Italian outlets decided to ignore that part of the quote in the reports that claim that he wants to leave.

Can Arsenal really sell him this summer?

Even though Torreira’s agent said that he didn’t know about the reports but he did leave a surprising comment saying that AC Milan current boss Marco Giampaolo is a special person to his client hence giving AC Milan hope. AC Milan will reportedly try to make some bids in the coming days but Arsenal has no reason to sell, the player still has many years on his current contract at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal has the upper hand in this and will definitely try to get as much as €50million if Lucas Torreira does tell the club that he wants to leave. AC Milan might not afford him.
