Arsenal's head coach Unai Emery will reportedly let go of Koscielny and Monreal in this summer transfer window. The gunners will be looking for young replacements.
The gunners will be busy in this summer transfer window because they need to cut on their wage bill by selling players and as well as bringing in new signings. Unai Emery will be looking to rebuild his squad this summer since its full of average players.
Arsenal is yet to appoint a technical director and some rumours claim that Unai Emery might take over this summer’s transfers of players that are joining and leaving. The gunners have been awful in defence in the last two years now and The Sun is reporting that Unai Emery has decided to let go of both Nacho Monreal and Laurent Koscielny because they have lost their legs.
Nacho Monreal has been a fantastic player for Arsenal and even once became their player of the season but playing as a left back requires to be fast nowadays but the Spaniard is now too old to excel in that position again hence Unai Emery playing him as a left centre back in the last few months. Laurent Koscielny has also been a great servant for Arsenal and even though it is debatable but we can say that he has been Arsenal’s best centre back in the Emirates era.
Monreal and Koscielny’s contracts will expire at the end of next season and the report above claims that these two will be allowed to leave in this summer transfer window because the gunners need some fresh blood in their squad as they have an ageing defence. Koscielny has been linked with a move to some Turkish sides while Monreal could return to Spain to play for a Spanish LA Liga team.
