Arsenal 3-2 Aston Villa: Aubameyang the hero once again

The gunners are back to winning ways after putting on a miraculous come back against Aston Villa. What a match that was, Arsenal fans just went through a lot of emotions in this game as their team has come from one goal down twice to defeat Aston Villa 3-2 at the Emirates Stadium. So here are some of the talking points from the game.

Arsenal was very slow in their transitions in the first half and it looks like this is because of Granit Xhaka since he isn’t mobile enough, the gunners looked weak and slow in the first minutes and it was really frustrating because you need your team to close down the opponents but they however looked like jogging.

Aston Villa’s first goal was really embarrassing for the gunners because the centre backs  just let McGinn run passed them and put the ball into the back of the net with the thought that it would be ruled out for offside. Ainsley Maitland-Niles sending off was very harsh from the referee as one of the fouls that saw him receive two yellow cards didn’t deserve any booking.

Bukayo Saka despite having been fantastic in the first half was subbed off to bring in Calum Chambers and the young Englishman did put on a performance that shows that he deserves to start in Arsenal’s next Premier League match. The gunners went back into the game after Matteo Guendouzi went down in the penalty box and Nicolas Pepe converted it in to make it 1-1.

After just 90 seconds, Aston Villa got their second goal of the day thanks to an incredible move by the visitors. A few minutes later after Wesley’s goal, Unai Emery removed Xhaka and Ceballos to bring in Willock and Torreira. These two instantly changed the game as they added a lot of the needed intensity in the match. The gunners once again equalised through Calum Chambers who swiftly put the ball into the back of the net after a mistake by Mings.

Aubameyang then later won Arsenal the match with a fantastic free kick which uplifted the home support which had been quiet throughout most of the game. Arsenal’s head coach Unai Emery will really be happy with that come back because his job was on the line. Arsenal are now back into the Premier League top four and will be hoping to stay there until the end of the season.
