Ex Arsenal player reveals what the club must do to make Aubameyang stay

Aubameyang has been at Arsenal for two years now and is yet to agree to a new deal with the gunners, and former player Charlie Nicholas has spoken out on what the club must do to keep him.

Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has in the last few months been linked with numerous clubs because he is yet to sign a new deal to extend his stay at the Emirates Stadium and there hasn’t been any updates from the club or his camp on the contract renewal talks. Former Arsenal player Charlie Nicholas has spoken out on what the gunners have to do for Aubameyang to stay.

Aubameyang joined Arsenal in 2018 after the gunners had lost Alexis Sanchez to Manchester United and the Gabon international has turned out to be an outstanding signing as he has scored 61 goals in less than 100 appearances for the North London club and he has this season been given a big responsibility of captaining the club after Granit Xhaka was stripped off the captaincy after clashing with the fans.

Former Arsenal forward Charlie Nicholas who played for the gunners from 1983 to 1988 says that the club must give Aubameyang whatever he requests in order to keep him at the club for a longer time. Nicholas says that the gunners shouldn’t let him leave for free in 2021 and that he wouldn’t be too upset if he leaves for Barcelona or Real Madrid.

“As an Arsenal man, I would give him the contract he desires. You give him a three or four-year deal and you give him what he wants. Because you can sell him next summer if he still wants to leave but then you get your value for money. I don’t see the point of running down contracts.” Charlie Nicholas said on Sky Sports.

‘If Barcelona or Real Madrid come in, I’ll hold my hands up and say, “fair enough, I’m not surprised he wants to go there. I’d be surprised if he left for another club in England. I don’t expect Liverpool or Manchester City to go after him, so he would probably go to a European club. At his age, if you can get good money for him, no problem.”
