Arsenal announce new deals and loan extension for four first team players

Arsenal have today morning announced the new deals and loan extension that four first team players have signed after some time of negotiating.

Arsenal have today confirmed via their official website that David Luiz, Pablo Mari and Cedric Soares have signed new deals. The club has also confirmed that Dani Ceballos has signed a loan extension so that he can extend his stay at the Emirates Stadium until the end of the season.

David Luiz arrived at Arsenal in last year’s summer transfer window and he had a poor start to the campaign as he gave away penalties but he seemed to have massively improved when Mikel Arteta arrived at the Emirates Stadium. Luiz has however ruined the good will he had with the Arsenal after the mistakes that he made in the 3-0 loss to Manchester City but the club has however decided to offer him a one year contract extension.

“David is a really important player for us. He has played most of our matches this season and has been important for the team. His passing, his communication with the team on and off the pitch. He helps everyone.” Arsenal’s technical director Edu Gaspar had this to say about Luiz.

Pablo Mari and Cedric Soares arrived at Arsenal in the 2020 January transfer window and the centre back has only been able to make just three appearances for the North Londoners but the club has offered him a four year deal even though he is currently injured. Cedric Soares has also been given a four year deal even though he is yet to play for the gunners since he arrived at the club with an injury. Below is what Edu Gaspar had to say about these two deals.

“With Pablo we’re all disappointed he got injured at Manchester City. Since Mikel arrived here he was asking for a central defender who was left-footed. We were really pleased with Pablo – his behaviour, the way he is training, his mentality and his quality. Unfortunately, he has that injury but of course we are really happy to keep him for the future.”

“Cedric is also going to be an important player. He has been unlucky with the injuries but he is close to being ready and gives us more strength in the right-back position. We’re also pleased Dani will finish the season here. He is making a good contribution and we look forward to him having a strong finish to the season.”

Dani Ceballos has not signed a permanent contract with Arsenal but he has however signed a loan extension.
