Mikel Arteta’s starting eleven in Arsenal’s friendly game reveals info on some player positions

The Arsenal squad faced Charlton Athletic on Saturday and Mikel Arteta's starting eleven decision have given hints on their possible future positions.

Arsenal welcomed Championship side Charlton Athletic at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday and they won the game 6-0 thanks to many beautiful goals from the likes of Eddie Nketiah, Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette and Joe Willock. Mikel Arteta used this match as a preparation for the upcoming game against Manchester City and his plans have seen some player positions get leaked.

ARSENAL STARTING ELEVEN (FIRST HALF)

Leno, Bellerin, Luiz, Mustafi, Tierney, Guendouzi, AMN, Nelson, Ozil, Aubameyang, Lacazette.

ARSENAL STARTING ELEVEN (2ND HALF)

Martinez, Sokratis, Holding, Mari, Kolasinac, Ceballos, Xhaka, Pepe, Willock, Martinelli, Nketiah.

As you can see in the first starting eleven, it looks like Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta will continue to use his captain Aubameyang on the flank even though he is a striker, some gooners were curious to know if Aubameyang will be allowed to go into a striking role after the restart of the Premier League but it looks like he could still start as a winger in the upcoming games.

It’s a huge relief for gunners that Arteta chose to give a chance to Ainsley Maitland-Niles since he has spent a long time without playing since the Arsenal boss said that he wasn’t happy with his attitude but he was however given a start today and also put in his favourite midfield position.

Sokratis Papastathopoulos has fallen out of favour at the centre back position and it looks like Arteta is confident that he could do a job in the right back position and it looks like he will continue playing there as he played in that very position today. Martinelli hasn’t played much under Arteta but it looks he will be playing on the flanks if what done in this game is what the Arsenal boss used to test his tactics and style.
