Report: How Mikel Arteta has started preparing for life without Mesut Ozil

Mesut Ozil has been at Arsenal for seven years now but his time is up and Mikel Arteta has begun preparing for life without the German international.

Mesut Ozil joined Arsenal in 2013 and he turned out to be an incredible signing as he helped the North Londoners to win three FA Cups as he arrived at the club when it had finished many years without winning any silverware. Mikel Arteta will however want to move on and we take a look at how he has begun trying to prepare for life without the German international.

MIKEL ARTETA HAS BEGUN PREPARING TO SHIFT TO A 4-3-3 FORMATION/SYSTEM

Mesut Ozil is an outstanding attacking midfielder but it is however no secret that the 31 year old is usually only impressive when used as a CAM in the 4-2-3-1 formation which is a system that most modern successful clubs are nolonger using at the moment. Arteta will also be looking to use the 4-3-3 system in the coming weeks or next season as that’s the system that he used in Arsenal’s friendly games ahead of their trip to Manchester to face The Citizens.

Mesut Ozil has lost his pace and ability and so he can not play in the 4-3-3 formation anymore because Arteta will be requiring all the three midfielders to not only be involved in the attacking sequences but also be giving support to the defence when without the ball.

ARSENAL ALREADY MAKING MOVES TO FIND PLAYERS THAT SUIT THE 4-3-3 FORMATION

Signing of Thomas Partey could be a double win for Arsenal

Arsenal have been heavily linked with a move for Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey and he is a player that could be the heart of the midfield that Arteta wants to build without involving Mesut Ozil. Partey is a player that would tremendously improve their midfield and provides exactly what Arteta wants in his squad.

As for replacing what Ozil offers, Arsenal have been linked with a move for Feyenoord midfielder Orkun Kokcu and he is a hybrid 8/10 attacking midfielder that would instantly fit into the new system that Mikel Arteta wants to implement at the Emirates Stadium next season.
