Report: The two objectives that Arteta has set with Premier League restarting

The Premier League will restart on Wednesday and here are the two objectives of Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta for the reminder of the season.

The Premier League will return in two days and Arsenal will start with a big test as they will be up against Manchester City. Mikel Arteta will hope to start with a win over his former employers and so we take a look at the two objectives that the Spaniard will have for the rest of the season. Arteta’s side is currently in the ninth position.

GETTING INTO UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE/ EUROPA LEAGUE SPOTS

Arsenal hasn’t played in the UEFA Champions League for four years now and this has really financially affected at the club as it had been in the competition for two decades. The North London club will want to play in next year’s UEFA Champions League because they will need the funds as they have a huge wage bill and will not want to start breaking the FFP rules which would see them receive a ban or a fine.

Mikel Arteta arrived at Arsenal when all hope was lost and so he won’t be on any pressure of getting UCL or his job security reducing but he will however want the club to qualify for it to quickly earn the trust of both the board and the supporters since the fanbase seems to have lost any hope of them being in UCL next season. If Arsenal can’t make it to UCL, Arteta will want his squad to atleast get Europa League football since a club like Arsenal not playing in a European competition would be embarrassing and the sponsors wouldn’t be happy with that. Keep in mind, fifth position could potentially get you a UCL spot and then 6-7 a Europa League spot should City’s ban stay and so Arteta will want to be around the positions of 5,6,7.

BUILDING UNITY WITHIN THE SQUAD

Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta had only been with his squad for three months when the Premier League got suspended but he will however want to use the next few weeks to build unity in the squad so that he can fully have his stamp on the squad.
