Mesut Ozil makes a verdict on the few games he played under Mikel Arteta

Mesut Ozil has been at Arsenal since 2013 and he has in that period been one of the best players at the club apart from the last few years which has seen him get sidelined by two different managers. Mikel Arteta was appointed as Arsenal boss in December, 2019 and he played Ozil in his first few months and the German international has slightly opened up about that period.

Mesut Ozil first met Mikel Arteta in 2013 when he arrived at Arsenal and they spent a few years as teammates before the Spaniard called it quits and retired from football to pursue his managerial dreams. The gunners decided to appoint Mikel Arteta as their new head coach after they fired Unai Emery and he used Mesut Ozil in his first few games in the Premier League until the league got suspended due to the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Mesut Ozil has never played for Arsenal since March as Mikel Arteta stopped using him and even went all the way to not include him in the Premier League and UEFA Europa League squads of this season. Mesut Ozil recently had a question and answer session with his fans on social media and he was asked if he has enjoyed his time at the Emirates, and he claimed that he has been happy with it and that he did enjoy the first months under Arteta before the league break but continued and said that everything changed when the Premier League  restarted.

“Of course – there have been many ups and downs so far, but all in all I’ve never regret my decision to join Arsenal. And to be honest the last couple of games before the corona break in February & March 2020 made really a lot fun.” wrote Mesut Ozil in a tweet.

.“I’ve enjoyed that time a lot and I’ve thought we’re really on a very positive way. But after the break things unfortunately changed.”
