Arsenal reportedly decide on whether to offer David Luiz a new contract

Arsenal centre back David Luiz has just a few months remaining on his current contract at the Emirates and the club has reportedly made a decision on his future.

Arsenal completed the signing of David Luiz from Chelsea in the 2019 summer transfer window and he has been such a surprising player in his time at the Emirates Stadium as he has continually gone from being heavily criticized by the fans to being considered as an underrated defender that’s important to the club. It’s now being reported that Arsenal might have made a decision on his future at the club.

David Luiz has just a few months remaining on his current contract at Arsenal and there hasn’t been any information from either him or the club on if he will be given an extension in the summer but Mikel Arteta has continually been talking about how the Brazilian centre back is an essential member of his squad since he is great at playing out of the back and is a great influence on the younger players in his squad.

The Athletic is now reporting that Arsenal will not offer David Luiz a new contract and that he will leave the North London club at the end of the season on a free transfer despite having a great relationship with his boss Mikel Arteta. It will be interesting to see what effect the departure of David Luiz will have on the gunners as they would currently have only Rob Holding as their right footed centre back but this could be a chance for William Saliba as he will be back from his loan spell at the end of this season.

It was also reported last summer that David Luiz was hoping to work with Mikel Arteta as his assistant after his career but since there is no current sign that he will retire and so he could indeed leave England in this upcoming summer transfer window.
