Leno reveals the current feelings of the Arsenal players after their elimination from Europe

Arsenal was last night eliminated from the UEFA Europa League by Villarreal and Bernd Leno has talked about the immediate feelings of the players after the game.

Arsenal welcomed Villarreal to the Emirates Stadium for the UEFA Europa League semi finals 2nd leg and the game didn’t go as they would have hoped as they drew 0-0 hence getting eliminated from the competition. Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno has opened up about the current feeling in the dressing after their elimination from the UEFA Europa League.

Villarreal beat Arsenal 2-1 in the first leg in the first leg of the UEFA Europa League semi finals and they were on Thursday welcomed at the Emirates Stadium with the fear that the gunners would just score one goal to eliminate them but they however held on to a 0-0 draw which secured their participation in the UEFA Europa League final.

Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno played in both games of this European tie and did his part in the second leg in stopping the visitors from scoring but it wasn’t enough as they needed to put the ball into the back of the net to make the score 2-2 on aggregate. Bernd Leno faced the media after the game and said that the dressing room was very quiet and disappointed after the game when asked about the current feelings of the players but also reaffirmed that they however feel that they should have won if not for missed chances as they deserved it more.

“It’s very quiet. I think disappointment because our big target was to reach the final & win the Europa League & now that’s not possible anymore.” Bernd Leno told BT SPORT.

“I think the problem only was we didn’t take our chances. Overall, we were the better side, I think only the first-half in Villarreal we played not on our level & that was enough to beat us.”

“In the first-half of the first-leg, I think all of us, we weren’t at our best but I think the second-half in Villarreal & also today, we put everything inside but it was not enough or good enough.”
